Money and fame couldn’t stop Actor and Comedian Robin Williams from his own demise. On the outside he was perceived as happy-go-lucky, but it was depression that took a toll on his life.
The 63 year old was found dead in his home in Northern California from an apparent suicide. According to investigators, the Oscar-winning actor was unconscious and not breathing.
Williams got his break when he starred in in the TV series Mork & Mindy. Soon after, a plethora of roles followed. No ne can forget the no nonsense haughty nanny “Mrs. Doubtfire.” Then there was his riveting performance in “Good Will Hunting.”
Like many other actors, Williams struggled with substance abuse. In 2006, he checked himself into a rehab for alcoholism after being 20 years sober.
Celebrities took to Twitter to share their grief over the sudden death. Steve Martin tweeted, “I could not be more stunned by the Loss of Robin Williams, mensch, great talent, acting partner, genuine soul.”
Jon Trovolta, “He loved us all and we loved him back. He had only the best things to say about people and we are all better for having known him!! I love you Robin!”
Bill Cosby, “I’m stunned.”
Tim Allen, “ So sad so very sad about Robin. My head and heart extend to his family.”
The entertainer returned to TV screens last fall when he was cast in “The Crazy Ones” on CBS
